REQUIREMENTS:
Matric, Senior Certificate, Grade 12, MBCHB, or a degree of comparable. a master’s degree in medicine or an FCFP equivalent. Enrollment in a professional association: enrollment as a Family Medicine Specialist with the HPCSA.
As a Medical Specialist in Family Medicine, I am currently registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (2022/3 Receipt).
Family doctors who are willing to apply but do not meet the required registration standards can still do so. Only if proof of application for registration with the relevant council and proof of payment of the statutory registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview will such candidates be considered for appointment.

ACLS, ATLS, Family Medicine Diploma, A minimum of two research articles are beneficial.
Experience necessary Grade 1: After becoming registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist, no prior experience is needed.
Grade 2: After registering as a Medical Specialist with the HPCSA, a minimum of five years of suitable experience as a Medical Specialist is required.
Grade 3: After registering as a Medical Specialist with the HPCSA, a minimum of ten years of suitable experience as a Medical Specialist is required. Required knowledge, abilities, instruction, and competencies: a solid understanding of the clinical principles used in the field of family medicine. Mentor and guide M MED and MBChB students. Capacity to function both under pressure and as a team. Capacity to mentor and oversee junior employees.

DUTIES:
Render efficient, quality and cost-effective Family Medicine services to patients
managed by the institution and the District. Specialist family medicine care to
patients (all age groups) at Dr George Mukhari Hospital Academic and at
designated outreach sites drainage of the Hospital. Participate in clinical
governance of a growing integrated district family medicine health service.
Assist with Effective and efficient administration of the Family Medicine
Department.
Make sure that resources (medical and equipment) are used rationally. Engage in structured instruction as mandated by the Department of Family Medicine. reporting on clinical audits, education, research, and, if needed, quality improvement plans to the chief of the unit. Make sure that, in compliance with legal and ethical requirements, appropriate and accurate medical records are kept. Prepare monthly statistics, quarterly, and annual reports, and take part in the creation of the unit’s operational plans.
Create and Take Part in Primary Health Care Projects with a Community Focus.
Oversee the hiring of physicians (in accordance with PMDS policy); contract a performance management and development plan with physicians; and keep an eye on their ethical behaviour. In addition to collaborating with other sections to foster cooperation and perform effective outreach services to district health clinics and hospitals, the incumbent is required to make herself available as needed. Publish a minimum of one research paper in a peer-reviewed publication per year.
