JOB LOCATION: Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH)

REQUIREMENTS :

Appropriate requirements for HPCSA registration as a Medical Specialist in Surgery. current CMSA registration as an FCS (SA) specialist.
Capacity to oversee a group of junior and senior physicians. For Grade 1: 0–5 years of medical specialty experience. Grade 2: Five to ten years of medical specialist expertise.

Grade 3: 10 to 15 years of expertise in the medical field. HPCSA registration as of right now for 2023–2024. Having experience in the public sector would be beneficial. the capacity to build strong working connections with the nursing staff, allied health professionals, and the surgical department. Ability to handle change in the ACS team as well as across the continuum of the emergency room, theatre, ward, and high-dependency unit.

Ability to expand the ACS service’s “footprint” within the CHBAH hospital cluster. surgical expertise to handle patients requiring emergency general surgery, including laparoscopic procedures and surgical critical care in a high-dependency unit. Strong interpersonal skills, dispute resolution abilities, verbal and written communication abilities, and leadership abilities.

The chosen applicant needs to be diligent, flexible, and self-assured. The applicant must be able to operate autonomously, under pressure, after regular business hours, and in a varied team. the capacity to function in a multidisciplinary group. understanding of the laws, regulations, and practices that affect those who utilize healthcare. proficiency with computers. a legitimate driver’s license.

DUTIES :

overseeing the care of ACS patients in the ward, emergency room, intensive care unit, and intensive care unit; doing and supervising the necessary surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience handling booking lists for emergency rooms, making routine surgery calls, and mentoring interns, medical officers, registrars, and medical students.

Engaging with surgical staff and management at cluster hospitals, undergraduate teaching ward rounds and theatre sessions at Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital. at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, offering patients a full range of healthcare services. tasks related to administration in the ACS division. acquiring supplies and medications, as well as organizing logistics.

Being able to start and carry out research will be beneficial. By offering outreach programs, the selected candidate will be required to improve the district and regional health systems. Set an example for the staff and pupils. Attend all faculty, departmental, and divisional meetings in order to support good teaching and research as well as ongoing professional growth. Fulfill the responsibilities delegated by the heads of the surgery department and the ACS unit.

Keep other departmental policies and quality assurance standards up to date. to support both undergraduate and graduate students’ educational programs. Attend training sessions and meetings as directed by the head of the unit. Observe the Performance Management and Development System, which includes the final assessment, quarterly reviews, and contracting.

NOTE:

Circular 19 of 2022 from the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) states that copies of credentials, service records, and other pertinent paperwork are not needed to be submitted with an application.
