HEAD CLINICAL UNIT (MEDICAL) GRADE 1 – NEPHROLOGY

SALARY: R1 887 363 per annum (all-inclusive package), which is made up of 30% flexible pay that can be arranged by the regulations in effect and 70% basic pay plus commutated overtime that is determined by the operational demands of the department.
Every year, employees are required to sign the commuted overtime contract form.
JOB LOCATION : Greys Hospital: Pietermaritzburg
REQUIREMENTS:
Senior Certificate, MBCHB, or comparable certification in addition to Registered HPCSA designation as an Internal Medicine Specialist (Specialist Physician) If not trained in South Africa, an equivalent qualification or a certificate in nephrology (SA) is required. Nephrologist currently registered with the South African Health Professions Council.
five (5) years of experience as a specialist physician after registration. Suggestion: management expertise in a nephrology unit. Knowledge, Proficiency, Qualities, and Capabilities: excellent clinical nephrology and patient care abilities. a working understanding of financial management, medical ethics, information management, quality assurance systems, current legislation, regulations, and policies pertaining to health and public service. Experience in both research and teaching.
DUTIES:
The incumbent will work out of Grey’s Hospital. Clinical Accountability:
involvement in the establishment of cardiology services in Area 2 and participation in outreach programs and tertiary nephrology services (both in-patient and out-patient) in the Pietermaritzburg Metropolitan Area Clinical responsibility in the fields of General Specialist Internal Medicine and Nephrology, with the ability to participate in after-hours operations (depending on departmental needs).
Responsibilities:
creation and maintenance of specialized nephrology services at Greys Hospital’s Tertiary Drainage region. management and supervision of the clinical and support personnel in the renal unit. Supervision and administration of the Renal Unit’s equipment, supplies, and infrastructure liaison with hospital institutional management in the Tertiary Drainage area, uMgungundlovu District, and PMB Metro. liaison with the heads of the University of KwaZulu Natal’s nephrology department and the Pietermaritzburg Internal Medicine Head Clinical Department. Supporting and taking part in adm.
Clinical and administrative governance initiatives in the PMB Departments of Medicine and Nephrology Research and Training Accountabilities Support for Staff Training, including Subspecialty Nephrology Training, is provided by the Department of Nephrology at the University of KwaZulu Natal and is available in the PMB Metropolitan region. involvement with and support of the PMB Departments of Nephrology and Internal Medicine’s Medical Undergraduate and Postgraduate Training Programs involvement in and assistance with clinical research and quality assurance initiatives in the PMB Departments of Medicine and Nephrology.
