REQUIREMENTS:

Matric/Grade 12/National Diploma in Radiography plus Ultrasound postgraduate qualification/Ultrasound degree. The right kind of qualification that enables registration in Ultrasonography with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Grade 1: After completing community service and registering with the HPCSA as an independent ultrasound radiographer, no experience. Currently registered for 2024 with HPCSA.

Grade 2: After completing community service and registering as an ultrasound radiographer with HPCSA, at least ten (10) years of experience are required.
Required knowledge, abilities, instruction, and competencies: solid familiarity with both general and specialized ultrasonography equipment and techniques.

familiarity with the OHS Act and other pertinent health laws. solid understanding of the Ultrasound Quality Assurance initiative. knowledge of pertinent laws, policies, acts, and procedures pertaining to public service. computer literacy (Ms. Excel and Word). adherence to the ideal hospital framework, national core standards, health and safety regulations, and infection control theories. strong writing and speaking abilities.

the capacity to contribute to a multidisciplinary team. must be well-versed in the operational procedures of public hospitals. Excellent organizing and planning abilities in the areas of finance, HR, and resources. Effective interpersonal skills are displayed.

DUTIES:

delivering top-notch ultrasound services in compliance with central hospital guidelines. Give other medical professionals knowledgeable guidance on ultrasound exams. As directed by the Assistant Director of Radiography, render services. Put in extra work when it is assigned to you. Manage the reservation process well to keep everyone’s wait times as short as possible. Help the Ultrasound Manager achieve the department’s goals.

Render effective patient-centred Ultrasound service for in-and out-patients in
adherence to the scope of practice and health protocols. Ensure efficient and
effective control and use of all equipment, assets and resources including
consumables and staff belonging to the cost centre. Participate in developing,
implementing and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure the effective
and efficient functioning of the department.

Verify that diagnostic services adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and ongoing government efforts to enhance healthcare. Oversee the quality assurance initiatives as mandated by the Department of Health and the Radiation Control Directorate. Assume specific trainer positions when assigned to supervise particular imaging areas within radiology, and provide clinical instruction and supervision to student radiographers and junior staff members. To provide high-quality services, promote a multidisciplinary approach by cultivating strong working ties with other departments.

Maintaining the Batho Pele Principles when supervising, developing, training, and monitoring the performance of subordinate employees and other relevant categories of employees in all facets of service delivery At the departmental level, put the National Core Standards and norms and quality assurance into practice and maintain them. Respect departmental and provincial hospital policies, guidelines, and regulations.

Effectively communicate with all parties involved. Fulfill all administrative responsibilities as stipulated by the position. Respect departmental, hospital, and provincial policies, guidelines, and directives. Participate in and contribute to your own and your colleagues’ professional development. NOTE:
Applications have to be filed using the updated Z83 form. The application form can be obtained online at www.dpsa.gov.za/documents or from any Public Service Department. The new Z83 needs to be started, signed, and completed completely (for clarification, please see the left side of the Z83 special comments). The Department of Health should be listed as the Department where the position was advertised on the Z83 application form.

Circular 19 of 2022 from the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) states that copies of credentials, service records, and other pertinent paperwork are not needed to be submitted with an application. The Z83 form needs to be submitted with a current, comprehensive Curriculum Vitae. Every experience needs to be listed chronologically. To determine the years of experience, the experience on the Curriculum Vitae needs to include the institution, position, and dates (DD/MM/YYYY) indicating the beginning and ending period. The Curriculum Vitae and the information on the new Z83 need to match.

On or before the interview, only those who have been shortlisted will be asked to bring certified copies of their qualifications, their service certificate, and any other pertinent paperwork. Applicants who hold a foreign qualification must provide the Department with an assessment certificate issued by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

Verification checks and Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) will be carried out by HR. When required, the Department reserves the right to verify information beyond what has been submitted. The candidate will be disqualified if any of the above-mentioned pertinent material is not submitted, with the exception of HR verification checks.
