Salary: R163,680 – R192,810 per annum (inclusive of benefits)
Contract: Permanent position (subject to signing a performance agreement)

Purpose of the Role

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is seeking to appoint a Food Service Aid at the National Office in Pretoria. This position plays a key role in supporting catering services within the department, ensuring smooth operations in serving refreshments during meetings and maintaining kitchen hygiene. The ideal candidate should be service-driven, organized, and able to perform duties with a high level of attention to detail.


Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Qualification:

    • Minimum of ABET Level 4 or Grade 10 qualification.

  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Good verbal and written communication skills

    • Strong planning and organizing abilities

    • Excellent customer service orientation

    • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully

    • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork capability

    • Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines

    • Basic conflict management skills

    • Professional and courteous demeanor


Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Food Service Aid, your responsibilities will include:

  • Catering Support Services:

    • Assist with the preparation and delivery of food and beverages for departmental meetings and events.

    • Ensure timely serving of meals, snacks, and refreshments to staff and guests.

  • Service Delivery:

    • Set up tables and trays for meetings and events.

    • Serve refreshments in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Cleaning and Maintenance:

    • Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery before and after use.

    • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas.

  • Conference Room Preparation:

    • Prepare meeting rooms, including arranging cutlery, crockery, and table settings.

    • Ensure the conference facility is clean and presentable before and after meetings.

  • Stock Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Monitor supplies of food, beverages, and kitchen consumables.

    • Report any shortages, wastage, or equipment issues to the supervisor promptly.
