About the Role
FlySafair is seeking a detail-oriented and physically capable Dispatch and Tool Store Assistant to join our operations team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will support the day-to-day management of inventory, unserviceable aircraft spares, warehouse stock, tools, and consumables in compliance with aviation and internal quality standards. This role will also coordinate logistics, support tool store functions, and assist in warehouse management using ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
Dispatch and Inventory Management

Move inventory and materials across facilities safely and efficiently.

Process inventory for delivery, sort and organize stock in proper locations.

Label, package, and shelve items to prevent damage and maintain organization.

Update logs and documentation for all inventory activity and system entries (SAM/ERP).

Report damaged or missing inventory and resolve discrepancies with Inventory Clerk.

Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts and audits.

Monitor inventory levels and maintain high warehouse quality and safety standards.

Ensure the dispatch area is always clean and ready for internal/external audits.
Unserviceable Spares Handling

Inspect all unserviceable spares for correct flushing and documentation before warehouse induction.

Pack spares to avoid further damage and align shelving systems accordingly.

Collaborate with the planning department to complete stock movements on SAM.

Perform stock checks and maintain updated records of unserviceable items.
Tool Store Operations

Update tool store systems and resolve related queries.

Assist technicians with over-the-counter tool requests and manage tool loans to outstations.

Ensure accurate placement and tracking of returned tools and items.

Follow up on tool calibrations and repairs; plan replacements to avoid downtime.

Maintain stock of consumables and perform inspections on Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

Report unserviceable tools/GSE to maintenance and ensure issues are rectified promptly.

Ensure all tools and shelves are clearly marked and stored per SOPs.

Control access to the tool store and provide reports as required.
Logistics & Communication

Coordinate pickups and deliveries with shipping companies.

Ensure all shipments are correctly packed to avoid damage in transit.

Communicate with internal departments to support on-time, accurate deliveries.

Provide daily updates and feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
-
1–2 years’ experience in warehousing and/or administration (Essential)

Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks (Essential)

Willingness to work 24-hour shifts and overtime as required (Essential)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of ERP or inventory systems such as SAM (Advantageous)

Certification in Dangerous Goods Handling or Aircraft Spares Packing (Advantageous)

Warehouse/Tool Store Training certification (Advantageous)
